This new elementary school represents the second phase of a two-phase project which included Memorial Pool and Health Club.

Establishing a clear understanding of user needs, spatial relationships and adjacencies, security and site issues related to vehicular access and parking, and outdoor recreation areas were important masterplanning issues.

With an enrollment of 650 students, the school is designed around a 2-1/2 storey interior courtyard which brings light to the interior of the building, and serves programmatically as both an informal meeting area and a lunch room.  Classrooms surround the courtyard and are arranged in a split level configuration derived from grade changes on the site.  An existing school and pool were demolished as part of the new development, while a covered arena has been retained, connected by interior walkways to both the pool and the school. The project was designed in joint venture with Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc.
