Ontario Investment and Trade Centre is located on the top floor of 250 Yonge St. 35 storeys above the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto. The purpose of the 22,000 sf space is to provide a meeting and presentation centre for companies interested in investing in Ontario.
The space is organized around a central galleria which welcomes visitors as they enter the space through the elevator lobby. The galleria, which overlooks Toronto City Hall, is used for both presentations and large gatherings. A variety of different sized meeting rooms are located on either side of the central galleria. A boardroom which seats 35 people around a custom designed table as well as a theatre which seats 65 people have also been provided.
The project received a LEED Silver designation with the Canada Green Building Council. Materials such as the bamboo flooring as well as the recycled carpet and ceiling tiles contribute to the scoring of the LEED designation. Both the lighting and the mechanical systems utilize energy efficient products, such as LED and T5 fluorescent lights as well as highly efficient waterless plumbing fixtures. Through this project, the Ontario government is acknowledging that reducing the carbon footprint of building projects is an important priority.
Overall, the space is intended to be harmonious and cohesive with enough surprises around each corner to keep potential investors interested and excited about the business opportunities in Ontario.
