Summer 2018 Update


St.Simon Catholic School Exterior Facade

The summer of 2018 is shaping up to be a busy one at GBSA. Preliminary design work is underway with 705 Progress Avenue, which is a new homeless shelter for men located in Scarborough. The $ 6m project will be an extensive renovation of an existing 30,000 sf building. GBSA won the commission as a result of an RFP submission with the City of Toronto. The new $ 11m, 60,000 sf St. Simon Catholic School in Toronto is now occupied. Landscape work will continue throughout the summer with the project being fully completed by September. Further more design work has recently begun for St. Thomas Aquinas School in Toronto to add a new $ 2.5m daycare facility, as well Design work is also underway to provide a new daycare at Munden School in Mississauga. Construction is underway at several Waterloo Region District School Board projects including 151 Weber which is an exciting $ 2m “alternative” education facility. Other projects include renovations to Coronation and Glencairn Schools. Work continues at Queen’s University for MacCorry Hall where renovations were recently completed to the Geography Department and lecture halls on the main level of the complex. Alongside construction, Design work is now beginning on upgrades to washrooms and offices in other locations of the building. Several projects are underway with York Region in Newmarket, Ontario. GBSA is completing numerous interior and exterior upgrades to the facilities headquarters located at 145 Harry Walker Parkway, North in Newmarket. Several interior projects are also underway at the Administrative Head Offices located on Yonge Street. St. Clair/Silverthorn, a new $3.5 m branch library is under construction in Toronto for Toronto Public Library. The GBSA Interiors Group has several projects underway with Infrastructure Ontario that are in various stages of development.

Soooo…there you have it! A busy summer indeed at GBSA.
